University Team for the World University Games in Szeged Hungary left on Sunday,

8^th August and start racing on the 12^th August.

UJ Sportman of the Year

Peter Lambert is the 2009 Sportman of the year at the University of Johannesburg. It just sounds so right and for those of us that have witnessed the amount of ‘blood, sweat and tears’ that have gone into it, there is a sweet taste of victory.

Peter is an alumnus of Jeppe where he was well known for his rowing after representing South Africa at the World Junior Championships in Banyoles, Spain in 2004. Continuing his studies he went on to represent the University of Johannesburg in 2005 at Boatrace in Port Alfred and obtained a Gold medal. In 2006 he was selected to represent SA at the u/23 World Championships in Belgium.

His rowing did not slow down in the three years that followed but rather helped him to be prepare himself for the world championships in Poland where he represented South Africa and obtained a 13th place in the men’s heavy weight skulls.

Peter is the perfect example of a balanced athlete completing his Honours in Marketing Communication as well as achieving the level of achievements that he has with his rowing. We look forward to seeing where he goes next!
