Getting involved in rowing is much easier than most people think, as it is an all inclusive sport that caters to any skill, age or disability. Rowing is a social sport that relies on friendship, camaraderie and team work to function. People wishing to compete at a higher level than social or club rowing can get apply to the Rowing High Performance Centres in either Abled Bodied, Adaptive or Indoor rowing. FAQ's 1 - What will I need to do once I join? Most clubs will hold regular training sessions for your convenience. New members are encouraged to attend these sessions, to improve their technique, endurance and overall rowing ability. For those who enjoy competing, there are also a number of club and regional regattas that allow you to race against other individuals throughout the country. 2 - How Much will this cost me? You will be charged a small fee in order to join a rowing club. This will cover the membership to the club, boats as well as cost for coaches. Club fees will vary slightly from club to club and region to region. 3 - What else will I need to pay for? The training sessions that the club provides may also need to be paid for. There is also a small seat fee for regattas to assist with their running of the event. Remember, most clubs are run by volunteers giving up their time. If you get serious about your rowing, you may like to purchase a boat to assist your training. It is always best however to check with your coach regarding the appropriate equipment to use before purchasing it. Many clubs will supply all the equipment necessary. |
